Wheels

Wheels are important. Cheap crummy wheels will cause a range of problems like spokes rusting and breaking, punctures from spokes sticking through the rim, tyres not fitting properly, brakes squealing and general poor performance. We can order in almost any quality brand of wheel like Mavic, Shimano, Campagnolo, DT Swiss etc but the brand we stock in the shop is Velocity because they are good value and all of their wheels are hand-built in the US (until very recently they were made in Aus). We stock no nonsense wheels with 32 or 36 plain gauge stainless steel spokes and double-wall alloy rims. If you don't race bicycles then it's best not to waste time and money on flimsy wheels with low spoke count and bladed spokes. Our electric bikes come with 13 gauge (slightly thicker) stainless steel spokes because of the extra torque applied on the motor wheel. We stock spare spokes for these wheels and we can build wheels to your needs, electric or otherwise.
